Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Legro’s Training Camp and Haste?

We go that extra mile to make it better than the rest. Legro has teamed up with Haste because both parties have a wealth of experience in cycling to offer you the best trip. Our guides have extensive local knowledge and put together the right sequence of rides for the groups and listen to their feedback. This makes your week better structured and more enjoyable, also, most of your leaders are coaches or have a wealth of cycling experience and are available to give you advise. We have a policy that we leave as a group and come back as a group

What does the price include?

Half board, free wifi, group leaders, free spa and the training camp.

How many group leaders are there and how big are the groups?

We have least 1 group leader in each group, and the groups are no bigger than 10 riders.

Am I fit enough?

Due to the nature of the terrain this trip is suited to the more experienced cyclists. Here are a few criteria to think of:  Are you are comfortable riding in a group? Have you been riding regularly with a club? Can you ride for 3 hours plus? Do you feel confident climbing and descending big mountains?

What will the weather conditions be like?

As we are in the mountains the weather can change throughout the day so we always air on the side of caution. If you think about bringing it, bring it. Normally the temperature is in the 20’s down in the valley and can certainly hit 30+ through July. The higher you go the colder is gets so well worth bringing a gillet for the descents. It is not uncommon to have short rain showers late afternoon.

Do I need to bring extra equipment for being in the mountains?

Yes. If you are bringing your own bike please make sure it is in full working order especially your brakes. The descents are fast and can be bumpy. Some routes pass through tunnels and some are well lit and others not so, so you will need a rear facing light for your bike.

Is it law to wear a helmet?

It is only obligatory for children under the age of 12 to wear a helmet in France. However, we strongly advice you wear one every day all day.

What group do I choose?

We always suggest you go down a group from what you think you should be in, rather than aim high and struggle on your first day. Ask one of the group leaders if you are not sure.If the group leaders think you are too slow or too fast for the group, they will suggest you move groups. Please understand these suggestions are made for the benefit of the group as a whole.

Do you have café stops?

Yes we do and this can be a mix of a quick stop to fill up with water or a relaxing coffee and cake. Depending on the route for the day and the location of the café the stop can be half way or towards the end.

You are responsible for the payment of any drinks/food purchased

Can we bring out partners with us that do not ride bikes?

Yes you can, we do have quite a few partners, non-cyclists. With lots to do such as hiking, local markets and you can even take the chairlift to a mountain restaurant while their other half is out riding. Some prefer just to lay by the pool.

Is there a discount for non-cycling partners?

Yes, 15%

Are there airport transfers?

After booking, we will give you details on airport transfers. This is not included in the price but the company we use group you up to keep costs down. They can take large groups including bags and bikes which will be an even split.

Half board, breakfast and evening meals are at the hotel’s restaurant. They also have an excellent wine cellar.

Do you have to ride every day?

No, you can do whatever you want, there are lots of activities if you want to check out some other parts of the resort. The local hot baths are walking distance and of course the swimming pool and spa with some light refreshments if you just want to chill out.

Are there bike rental options?

We recommend Jules Melquiond Sport in the village of Chantemerle. They have a good selection of carbon fibre bikes along with pedals, accessories and they will deliver to the hotel. There is a discount if you quote Legro when booking. More info under the “Other info” menu dropdown.

What is the best airport?

We strongly recommend Turin in Italy. It is the closest at 1h40 minutes drive and they have the best selection of flights during the summer months. Ryanair normally comes in as the cheapest and with the best times so you can get an afternoon ride when you arrive and morning ride the day you leave.
